12 May, 2017

Under the CMPA project, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) and GIZ jointly organized a Train the Trainer (TTT)” event at Goa during May 9 -11, 2017 for the experts and officials of the Coastal State Forest Departments and forest training institutions. The TTT was facilitated by a master trainer of Dale Carnegie India, using their globally acclaimed training material and methods. Participants were from the IGNFA; Central Academy for State Forest Service Dehradun & Coimbatore; State Forest Training Institute, West Bengal Forest Department; SDMRI Tamilnadu; Goa Forest Department; Andaman & Nicobar Forest Department, and Mangrove Cell, Government of Maharashtra. Resource persons from IGNFA and GIZ facilitated the group in application possibilities of the acquired training skills in real life situations.

The participants of the TTT confirmed achieving the learning outcomes of the TTT, i.e. they were able to demonstrate knowledge and skills for conducting Training Needs Assessment and for developing effective training plans, simplify complex information on coastal and marine biodiversity and deliver value by creating relevance in their training programs, understand how to apply adult learning principles, demonstrate impactful presentation skills as a trainer and facilitator, provide positive feedback and coaching to create an atmosphere of acceptance and approval, and identify goals for themselves, where they would apply the learnings from this TTT.

IGNFA and the Indo-German project “Conservation and Sustainable Management of Coastal and Marine Protected Areas” (CMPA) have entered into an MoU, for implementing specialized capacity development measures for IFS probationers as well as for trainers and faculty of the forests training institutes in India.
