IGBP participates in the official national event for celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity 2017 in Goa

“Conservation must be linked to local economy”, said Mr. Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa at the IGBP exhibition during the IDB 2017.

The national level event for celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity 2017 was held on 22 May 2017 at Kala Academy in Goa. The event was organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, through the National Biodiversity Authority with support from Goa State Biodiversity Board. The Chief Minister of Goa was the chief guest for the event.

The IGBP participated at the event by setting up an exhibition of the projects and initiatives under the Indo-German Biodiversity Programme. Posters, films, factsheets and reports on project activities and results from the TEEB India Initiative, India Business and Biodiversity Initiative and the Coastal and Marine Protected Areas (CMPA) project were displayed.

Community led eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation initiatives in Maharashtra supported under the CMPA project were special highlight of the exhibition
